Yes. Cybersecurity is a big domain. Unfortunately, due to mainstream media and misconceptions, people tend to think that the only cybersecurity role is becoming an ethical hacker/penetration tester which requires deep technical skills especially coding/programming. But this is only one of the many cyber roles. Here are roles that doesn’t require deep technical skills: Cyber Governance Risk and Compliance (GRC) Analyst, Cyber Business Analyst, Security Awareness Trainer, Cybersecurity Project Manager, etc.

Not necessarily as this depends on the employer’s requirements. It definitely helps if you have an IT background but in my experience, I have worked with people who were Philosophy, Commerce, Accounting graduates, and other non-IT degrees. I myself completed Electronics and Communications engineering which is not directly related to Cybersecurity.

It is recommended. The reality of the corporate environment today is most HR will require you to have a degree regardless whether it’s a Cybersecurity role or any other corporate profession. And for Online degrees, this would depend on the hiring managers if they're willing to accept this but conventionally, traditional college degrees are still required. In the bright side, I’ve seen people who didn’t completed a degree but was able to enter the field and achieved a successful career. Some entered the field by doing entry-level IT roles such as IT helpdesk, then eventually transitioning to Cybersecurity. Others focused on getting remote work instead as some employers from other countries don’t require college degrees.
